“ My husband and I had a lovely date night here about a month ago. This little spot wasn't on our radar at all, but we came across it after I was craving some sushi, and the rotary place in Aurora had a wait on Friday night that was too long... Enter, Hoshi Sushi, a cozy spot tucked away in a strip mall with the loveliest staff and the freshest sushi. I am so glad we came across it. Everything was cooked/made to order and they even had Japanese beer from Coedo brewery. Here is what we ordered: Tempura Combo, shared as an appetizer 2 Coedo beers (served alongside chilled beer glasses) Seaweed salad 3 Nigiri and 2 few rolls My favorite nigiri was the fatty tuna (toro) which I haven't had too much of before; but now I am a fan. It was buttery and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I also tried the salmon (sake) nigiri and the escolar. Our sushi was served on one big platter with pickled ginger and wasabi. Their tempura was fried to order and came out so fresh. I'd describe their kitchen as semi-open, so while I couldn't see their deep fryer from the dining room, I could hear the sizzle. Their service was really friendly, and during the course of our meal; there were several costumers who came in to pick up to-go orders. I can imagine this spot being a family's go-to sushi spot, and the owners really knowing who their customers are after building a relationship; that's the vibe. I loved our date night here, we will be back! ”
